Circle the City

Get out of your Car and Get on your Feet!

Circle The City is a proposed outdoor, linear festival that celebrates many of Boston’s parks and open spaces and makes it easy for residents and visitors to connect by foot, bike, and transit through the creation of safe, car-free zones!   Modeled on the City of Boston’s extremely popular and successful Hub On Wheels City-wide Bike Ride, and similar events in New York City and San Francisco, Circle the City will demonstrate how close neighborhoods are to wonderful outdoor spaces of all kinds and how simple and easy it can be to walk, ride or take the T to a variety of activities.  Circle the City will attract thousands of people into the parks with a series of events including local farmer’s markets, performances, active recreation opportunities including walking, roller blading, biking, and culturally active programs in dance, martial arts, and yoga.

Our goal is to Circle The City on successive on summer weekends, allowing residents and visitors from across the city to connect to local cultural and recreational events, parks and other healthy activities via safe, car-free corridors.

Circle the City is being spearheaded by organized by BPA member Emerald Necklace Conservancy in collaboration with the City of Boston and three major partnering organizations including , Boston Collaborative for Food and Fitness and BPA.  If you are interested in getting involved in this exciting project, please contact:  Ruth Goldman at ruth@bostonparks.org.
