Boston Parks and Open Spaces by the Numbers

Boston's open space includes over 7,000 acres of public and private land, managed by the Boston Parks Department, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR), the Boston School Department (BPS), community garden land trusts, and other smaller entities. In addition, private conservancies and friends groups help public parks with maintenance, capital improvements, cultural and fitness programs, and jobs for youth in the park. YES,  this makes it hard to ensure equity for all parks in all neighborhoods.
